Intellectual Disability and Dementia

One-day Workshop
Cost: $75 + GST
This workshop provides the underpinning knowledge and skills needed to interact effectively with people who have an intellectual disability, such as Down syndrome and dementia.

Participants will gain an understanding of:
· Person-centred care and effective communication;
· The nature of dementia as it relates to intellectual disability;
· The impacts of dementia on an individual with an intellectual disability; and
· Understanding and responding to behaviours of concern.

Who should attend this workshop?
Anyone working in disability services or community care that may need to interact with people with an intellectual disability and dementia.

Duration:
6˝ hour interactive workshop. (Lunch provided)
