Family Members & Friends Course

This course is for people who know or care for a person with dementia. It is designed to provide an understanding of dementia; what it is and what happens to a person when they develop dementia, and how to achieve better communication and care strategies.

Participants will gain an understanding of:
· The nature of dementia;
· Effective communication and activities for living;
· Understanding and responding to changing behaviours;
· Strategies for staying physically and socially active;
· Available services, resources and people to assist in coping with stress; and
· Planning for the future and care care options.

Please note:
This course is not suitable for the person with dementia to attend. We do however have limited respite options available. If you need to make arrangements for your person with dementia to be cared for whilst you attend the sessions, please ring us on (08) 9388 2800.
