Host Family Respite

What is Host Family Respite?

Host Family Respite provides care for a small group of people with dementia in the home of a care worker.  Each home is known as a "Home Club".

Where are Home Clubs located?

These clubs are located across the metropolitan area in a number of suburbs and they cater for clients in the early stages of dementia or those who enjoy being in a small group setting.  Home Clubs are also perfect for those who benefit from a special focus, such as clubs specially set aside for younger people with dementia.

Who Can Use Home Clubs?

Host Family Home Clubs are open two regular weekdays between 10am and 3pm.

Transport

Transport is negotiated with the primary carer, but can be provided by the care worker, a volunteer, a taxi (using the subsidy scheme), another organisation, or by the carer themselves.  Clients are advised not to drive themselves to Home Clubs.
