Social SupportWhat is Social Support? Social Support aims to assist the person with dementia to access community activities individually or in a small group. Who May Attend? People in the early stages of dementia often benefit from maintaining and exploring new social and recreational links within the local community. The service is primarily for those who need support from others to achieve this goal. Are Any Costs Involved? There is a small charge for attending the Social Support group and individual sessions, and participants will need to cover their personal expenses such as entry fees and refreshments. For individual sessions, the additional costs would depend on the areas of interest. However, the coordinator would discuss these issues with the family prior to commencing the service.
