
CompetencyCompetent Training Staff The Education Officers at Alzheimer's WA have vast experiences in training and the provision of care to people with dementia and their families. They have attained recognised qualifications in education, community or health services. Each Education staff member has a Certificate IV Assessment and Workplace Training. Assessment of Staff All educators will be employees of Alzheimer's WA and as such will be required to possess the appropriate qualifications and experience. As employees, they have been subjected to the usual selection criteria, interview and reference checks. The required qualifications and experience are specified in the position descriptions. Staff Development As part of the staff development policy of Alzheimer's WA, Education Officers are given the opportunity to undertake formal skills and knowledge enhancement. Staff have regular access to experts in the field of dementia care practice and research. Alzheimer's WA maintains a collection of current books, journals and videos, both for use in staff development and training sessions. Current information, changes in practice and advances in theory are channelled into course material preparation and workbooks.
